• Gypsy Moth & Cankerworm – Presentation

An Information Session was held on October 19th to educate and inform residents about Gypsy Moth and Cankerworms. The session was full of helpful information to assist in mitigating the impact of these bugs on trees in the Lorne Park and Clarkson Area. I have attached a link to the presentation, for those that were unable to attend.

  • 2016 Vacuum Leaf Pickup Program

The City of Mississauga will be providing boulevard/ditch Vacuum Leaf Pickup in most areas of Ward 2. There are different zones and schedules, depending on where your home is. You will receive a card in the mail with the two weeks that trucks will be in your area. Timing may vary depending on weather conditions and quantity of leaves.

    • Rake leaves to the boulevard’s edge or into the ditch. Do not rake leaves onto the road.
    • Help reduce potential flooding by keeping curbside storm drains clear of leaves.
    • Help crews by removing cars from the street during leaf pickup.

For additional information and to determine your scheduled pickup weeks, please visit: mississauga.ca/leafpickup

  • Lakeshore Connecting Communities – Open House Sessions

The Lakeshore Connecting Communities study will develop a Transportation Master Plan for the Lakeshore Road and Royal Windsor Drive corridor in the City of Mississauga. The purpose of the study is to support all transportation modes (including walking, cycling, transit and automobiles), connect people to places, and move goods to market along the corridor. The study will also evaluate rapid transit alternatives east of Hurontario Street as well as extending rapid transit into the Port Credit area.

These Open House sessions will form the first official public consultation piece of the study and will include information on the background work that has been completed to date. We will be asking those who attend to help identify opportunities and challenges for travelling in the Lakeshore communities with the goal of helping the team develop a vision for Lakeshore Road.

  • City of Mississauga to Live-Stream and Archive Additional Committee Meetings

At the recommendation of the City of Mississauga’s Governance Committee, Mississauga City Council has approved a one-year pilot project to live-stream and archive Audit Committee and Governance Committee meetings.

“Governance Committee has committed to a number of action items to become recognized as a leader in municipal governance,” said Pat Saito, Chair, Governance Committee and Ward 9 Councillor. “Mississauga was the first city in Ontario to live-stream Committee of Adjustment hearings and the number of views on all videos continues to rise. The addition of Audit Committee and Governance Committee reinforces the City’s commitment to providing an open and transparent municipal government.”

Council and General Committee, Budget Committee, Planning and Development Committee meetings and the Committee of Adjustment hearings are currently live-streamed and available as on-demand videos.

In 2015, there were a total of 13,169 views on the various Council and Committee meetings with 3,862 live views and 9,307 on-demand views.
